COVER SUPERVISOR

Required from September 2023

ALT GRADE E: £24,093 - £25,119

(pro rata £18,101-£18,872)

HOURS: 32.5 hours per week

WEEKS: Term time plus 5 training days

The Academy is looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor.  The postholder will provide classroom supervision when teachers are absent. This is a key role in supporting the day to day running of the school.

The post would suit an individual with experience of working with young people, although full training and support will be provided.

PURPOSE OF JOB

JOB DUTIES

Supervision of Classes

When teachers are absent, work is set by either the teacher or the Head of Department.   The Cover Supervisor will collect work from the Office and return any completed work after the lesson, as per instructions.  Class registers must be taken.  Work and relevant books will be distributed and explanation given to pupils as to what is expected of them.  Where possible, help should be given to pupils’ questions about process and procedures.  The behaviour of pupils must be managed so that there is a productive working environment.  Problems and emergencies must be dealt with according to the Academy’s policies and procedures.  All agreed referral procedures should be used as necessary.  Support on issues of discipline will be available at all times.

Exam Invigilation

The Cover Supervisor invigilates examinations as directed.

Supporting the Academy

When not undertaking the supervision of entire classes, the Cover Supervisor will work as a Teaching Assistant. 

The Cover Supervisor will liaise and consult with teachers and other staff to support pupils, when asked to do so.

The Cover Supervisor will attend relevant CPD.

The Cover Supervisor must be aware of Academy policies and procedures, including those related to confidentiality.

Responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils.

Any other tasks as directed by the Principal which are consistent with the aims of the post.
