Job description
REALTIME is on the lookout for a freelance Unreal Previz Artist.
As a Previz Artist, you will be required to have an all-round knowledge of shot production. You will work with our directors to provide a wide range of support for previs and shot creation.
Tasks will include modelling, texturing, scene development, working on camera setups, and providing a solid base for the environment, and animation teams to build upon.
The team will benefit from someone who enjoys moving from task to task, and can both follow cinematic direction, while also contributing their own ideas and feedback on how to take a treatment through the process and craft compelling content.
This role can be performed remotely, with working hours overlapping GMT.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creation of shots and cameras based on CG direction and working in a variety of styles.
- Low poly/proxy CG scene development, and layout under direction from Leads and Directors.
- Creation of low-resolution FX using basic assets.
- Perform shot setup to allow for smooth transfer of assets into the production pipeline.
- Provide additional support on prepping scenes and importing CG assets from Modeller, animators and character artists.
- Provide feedback to CG directors on previz and camera layouts for shots as and when required.
- Exploring issues with scenes, cameras, assets, and shots and performing problem solving to fix relevant issues as they arise during the animatic stage.
- Perform basic animation duties (such as character posing) to communicate vision during previs stage.
- Build rapport with the team and help where possible.
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong knowledge of UE5, especially cameras and the use of Sequencer.
- Good knowledge of Maya and Photoshop
MUST HAVE SKILLS & QUALITIES :
- Good knowledge of all round 3D skills, primarily modelling, texturing, cameras, and layout.
- Good knowledge of cinematography and being able to take high level direction and add some creative initiative to bring shots to expected quality levels
- Be motivated, and self-disciplined.
- Perform well under deadline pressure in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing different tasks to achieve project goals.
BONUS:
- Technical and scripting skills for camera and edit tools.
- More advanced animation skills (for things like background characters, environment animation or crowds).
- Any skills in Editing with Premiere or Hiero.
