(Welfare)
1 positions x 37 hours per week
£26800 –£27260 FTE – 12 months contract.

Key Responsibilities for Digital Skills Advisor
This role could include:
• Teaching basic, everyday IT skills to groups or one-to-one.
• Share knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and video-calling for personal and professional uses.
• Teaching people to create email accounts on a range of sites (Gmail, Outlook etc) and how to use them.
• Sharing information security tips to help participants keep themselves and their data safe.
• Responding to individual needs such as how to use the internet for research, banking, shopping, housing and benefits services, GP appointments etc.
• Demonstrate backing up important information/files/documents using a cloud or external storage device.
• Offering accessibility support by teaching participants how to set up use controls and adapt accessibility needs on any device.
Skills and experience needed for a Digital Skills Advisor
Experience- essential
• Level 3 Teaching Qualification or equivalent
• Understanding of need for ability to maintain confidentiality in all areas of work.
• 2 years + experience of Coaching individuals in Digital skills.
• Ability to write and develop training material
• Experience of accurate record keeping and attention to detail
• Experience in delivering digital workshops, and or training.
• Experience of building strong partnerships to develop collaborative working, business opportunities and developing services.
• Experience of signposting to other professional organisations.
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• A willingness to be flexible and able to work without close supervision.
• Able to always act in a professional manner with integrity, understanding and adhering to professional boundaries.
• Experience and understanding of adhering to GDPR and Safeguarding principles.
• Strong IT skills, including data entry and internet research
• Ability to prioritise own workload and to work effectively under pressure.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development, including training.
Experience – desirable
• Experience of working with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience of working with volunteers.
• Ability to establish excellent working relationships.
• Experience in putting together case studies and delivering data for reports.
• Have access to own vehicle and business insurance for travelling between sites.
• Experience with asset-based community development ethos or work practices.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development, including training.

Current funding for this role is until Oct 2024, but we expect for this role to continue either in this project or other related community development work in WCT after this date.
