Job description


We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Fetal Medicine Maternity Support Worker to join our Team.

You will be working as part of the close knit, integral team withing our Fetal medicine Centre.

You will have direct contact with women following first trimester scans.

The skills requirement will entail taking first trimester bloods and urine specimens, obtain and record results from prior investigations. Teaching home blood glucose monitoring to mothers. Daily set up, cleaning and restock at the end of clinic.

Daily set up of the Fetal Medicine Clinic clinical rooms; restocking and cleaning at the end of the clinic.

The work will include undertaking some clinical procedures e.g. obtaining blood samples from mothers.

The post holder will have contact with antenatal, labouring and postnatal mothers and their families in:- Antenatal clinics and ward areas.

Duties will include:-

Obtaining blood samples from mothers.

Performing venepuncture on mothers.

Providing support to the mothers.

Performing maternal observations.

Chaperone when required for clinical procedures.

A large proportion of the time will be spent in direct, one-to-one client care implementing and evaluating the care planned in conjunction with the midwife.

Ensuring that the information they communicate to mothers and their families is accurate and current.

Providing appropriate feedback on the outcome of care is given to the named midwife.

Recording details of care given to mothers/families in the appropriate records.

Entering data into the maternity computer system.

Accessing the results of investigations using the hospital computer system.
