Payroll Controller/ Supervisor
Location : Crawley or Central London
Working pattern Monday to Friday 9 – 5.30
Salary up to £50,000K subject to experience
Overview
Our client is seeking a Payroll Controller/Supervisor to support the payroll section of their National Finance Office. This crucial role involves ensuring the accurate processing of payroll for up to 5000 employees, along with managing related remuneration and benefit packages. Supervision of the Payroll Administrators and Payroll Support Administrator and addressing any training needs are also key responsibilities.
Responsibilities
In addition to overseeing a section of the payroll, the role entails:
- Managing staff commencements and returns from maternity leave
- Updating sickness reports
- Processing employee exits
- Conducting pro-rata calculations and adjustments
- Preparing end-of-period payroll reports for review
Key duties include:
- Supervising Payroll Administrators and Payroll Support Administrator
- Collaborating with the Payroll Manager for accurate payroll processing
- Coordinating with the pension team for reconciliation of pension contributions
- Verifying calculations and input by team members
- Assisting with HMRC RTI reporting
- Supporting tax and NIC payments
- Generating and reconciling reports for stakeholders
- Completing P11D reporting and childcare voucher assessments
- Handling BACS file creation and transmission
- Importing new hires and reconciling salary data
- Importing timesheet data and reconciling with HR reports
- Reconciling PAYE and processing payment documentation
- Providing support for day-to-day queries
Key Skills:
- Demonstrable experience in team supervision within the financial sector
- Strong educational background
- Strong experience in inhouse payroll experience
- Methodical, organised, and meticulous
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills
- Collaborative team player
