- We are seeking a highly skilled IT Systems Specialist with proven experience in managing and maintaining complex printing systems,
- You will work closely with our production team, engineers, and other IT professionals to ensure the uninterrupted printing of newspapers
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our printing infrastructure.
As the Systems Technician for Newspaper Printing at RPS, you will be responsible for the technical management and maintenance of the newspaper printing systems and related IT infrastructure.

Job Description
- Printing System Maintenance: Oversee and maintain the newspaper manufacturing IT systems, to ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime.
- Manage and repair manufacturing IT systems, including addressing technical issues, and performing routine maintenance.
- Install, configure, and update software applications and systems used in the printing process, ensuring that they are up-to-date and functioning properly.
- Quickly identify and resolve technical issues that may arise during the printing process, minimising disruptions to production.
- Maintain and troubleshoot the organisation's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Implement and enforce security protocols to protect the integrity and confidentiality of print data and systems.
- Collaborate with the production team to understand their technical needs and offer solutions to enhance the efficiency and quality of the printing process, and work on IT projects as assigned.
- Coordinate with external vendors for technical support and equipment purchases.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to employees, resolving hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, system backups, and patches, to ensure optimal system performance and security.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in managing and maintaining complex printing systems, preferably in the newspaper industry or within manufactoring
- Problem-Solving Skills: - Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and address user concerns.
- Cybersecurity Awareness: - Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and a commitment to data protection.
- Certifications: - Possession of relevant certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+. IT Support and System Administration:
- Proven experience in IT support and system administration.
- Operating Systems Knowledge: - Strong knowledge of operating systems including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
- Hardware and Software Expertise: - Proficiency in managing hardware components and software applications.
- Network Protocols and Infrastructure: - Familiarity with network protocols and infrastructure components.
- Optional - Project Management Skills: - Project management skills, showcasing the ability to plan and execute tasks efficiently.
