Job description
The Role: To provide support to a predominantly blind young woman, who also suffers with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). This role is to support her for 2 hours per week, with additional hours to cover sickness and holiday of one other team member. Experience would be preferred but is not essential. She enjoys playing the piano and requires support with her day-to-day life to keep her joints active and mobile. She has a guide dog, so you must like animals, and be happy to support her with the care of the guide dog.
Main Duties
• To support with grooming the guide dog.
• To support with sewing, embroidery, and other activities.
• To support with gardening.
• To encourage independence.
• To encourage motivation.
• To provide light personal care tasks occasionally.
• To support and assist with social outings.
• To encourage to do new activities, to keep her joints active.
Personal Qualities and Attributes required:
• Respectful of confidentiality and privacy.
• Responsible, reliable, and trustworthy.
• Respectful of dignity and independence.
• Good communication skills and social skills.
• Punctual, and flexible.
• Car owner with driving license and business insurance is preferred.
*This role is a lone working position, and an Enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) is required for all staff undertaking the role*
Hours: 2 hours per week, preferred to be worked on a Monday from 13:00, although there is some flexibility with this.
You will be expected to cover holidays and sickness of one other team member.
Pay: £14.29
