Job description

The Head of Financial Management will be responsible for providing leadership to the team of Finance Managers who provide financial support to the divisions within the Trust. This will include ensuring the Trust adopts efficient and effective working practices, maximises business opportunities and ensures appropriate planning and deployment of all resources. The Head of Financial Management will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of the annual Trust Revenue and Capital budgets. The Head of Financial Management will ensure that Business Cases presented to the Trust Investment Panel are robust and that all resource implications are considered. The Head of Financial Management will ensure that the Finance Managers share good practice and work as a team when appropriate. In particular they will work closely with the PMO office in order to advise and guide the delivery of Trust wide CIPS. The postholder will ensure areas of both opportunity and concern are investigated and, where appropriate, action is taken to ensure income is maximised and services are provided efficiently. The prime source of financial information will be the Trusts Patient Level Costing and Information System (PLICS) and Service Line Reporting (SLR) as well as the Finance Dashboard and appropriate benchmarking. The Head of Financial Management will work alongside Organisational Development colleagues to ensure the development of a financial training programme for non-finance colleagues around the Trust. This will ensure middle and senior managers have the financial skills and capability to manage their budgets effectively as well as understanding the financial consequences associated with operational decision making.
