Job description

We are a friendly supportive GP surgery in Bow E3, looking for a thorough and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant with good communication skills to assist the GPs and Practice Nurse in the delivery of excellent care to our patients. Duties will include, but are not limited to: Urinalysis Phlebotomy ECG Recording Wound dressing Blood Pressure Monitoring Clearing and restocking consulting rooms Administering vaccinations e.g. Vitamin B12, Influenza and Pneumococcal Undertake new patient health checks and NHS health checks. Support the clinicians with the management of chronic disease clinics. Calling/texting patients to ask them in for reviews. Chronic disease review which may include home visits. This is a part time position for 6 months. Working hours to be discussed during interview. NHS pension and on-going training will be provided. Experience working in a GP surgery is preferable however not essential. Start date - Interviews to be held - Person Specification Health Care Assistant Requirements Essential Desirable How Tested Education, Training and Qualifications Good general education to GCSE standard including numeracy and literacy Recognised health care qualification NVQ Level 3 Phlebotomy Training Basic Life Support Training Proof of commitment to professional development Experience Experience of EMIS clinical system Experience of Microsoft office software Experience of dealing with the public/patients Experience of Primary Care Skills Competent in basic healthcare duties required for the post Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills Good organisational skills with a proven ability to organise own workload and use own initiative IT skills Qualities/Attributes Ability to deal sensitively with patients and colleagues at all levels and disciplines Able to demonstrate enthusiasm to developing health care assistance skills An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality Ability to work without direct supervision and to determine own workload priorities Ability to work effectively as part of an integrated multi-skilled team Ability to form good interpersonal relationships Ability to work accurately and reliably under pressure in a busy environment Ability to work in a changing environment Ability to use own initiative Awareness of diversity and ability to tailor care to meet individual patient needs Awareness of the need to protect and safeguard children Physical Ability to attend to patients in various positions seated, standing or lying on a couch To use manual handling techniques in accordance with training and guidelines Other Flexibility of working hours/able to work at the desired times
