Legacy Strategies are looking for an experienced Construction Planner to work with our client in Birmingham.
Full Time | Permanent
As Construction Planner, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a detailed Construction Schedule, ensuring integration with 3rd Party Interfaces and the Design/Procurement Programme. The successful candidate will join the Station team, reporting to the Planning Lead for the project, and manage the Station superstructures & envelope packages in a collaborative planning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed Level 3 schedules for work packages and create tender-related programmes.
- Critically assess and provide feedback on contractors’ schedules to enhance the procurement process.
- Optimise construction methods and site logistics through comprehensive review and development.
- Oversee the evaluation of contractor claims or disputes related to scheduling.
- Ensure contractor-produced schedules align with overarching strategic programmes and work breakdown structures.
- Generate logistics analyses and designs to facilitate programme execution.
- Craft integrated schedules to ensure seamless coordination across various work packages.
- Design commissioning and testing timelines, considering project interfaces and completion goals.
- Track on-site progress against milestones, reporting in line with monthly cycles and earned value management principles.
- Input resource and cost data for the generation of earned value analysis for work segments.
- Evaluate and report on time risk buffers and any impact from unforeseen events.
- Provide schedule-related support to the Project Manager, Planning Lead, and Project Controls Manager.
- Aggregate project data for the evaluation of best practices and benchmarking.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Planning Lead and Project Controls Manager for accurate project progress tracking.
- Ensure coordinated effort among team members to pre-empt and address interface issues promptly.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and consultants to address challenges and devise strategies to avoid delays.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience in project planning on large (£100m plus) projects.
- Formal PM/planning qualification or MAPM.
- Strong background in Railway environments or Major Construction Programmes.
- Excellent coordination, reporting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage complex schedules.
