About the role:

As a Depot Facilities Supervisor you’ll be instrumental in ensuring plant and equipment is correctly maintained and made available for use to support the depot and outstations team. You’re to respond to the Engineering Facilities Manager’s requests to prioritise plant equipment repairs in the event of faults, failures and breakdowns.

Maintaining the integrity of plant equipment by monitoring maintenance and inspections, quality to industry standards, compliance with legislation, and to meet all safety policy and procedures is crucial. You’ll also monitor performance and make recommendations to optimise maintenance and implement preventative actions. Whilst also controlling and coordinating all plant team members to ensure maintenance and repair of plant equipment to maintain depot operations, targets set in line with relevant legislation.

You’ll be expected to ensure the plant team work to prescribed best practice, depot and business requirements and are competent to complete all tasks in line with industry standards, providing excellent service through efficiency, high standards and most of all, safety.

It’s an exciting time to join our engineering team, as we are transforming and developing skill-sets, to help us get the right people, on the right units, at the right time. You’ll need to work a range of shifts, from the early hours of the morning and including nights, plus weekends and Bank Holidays, it’s vital that you’re flexible and that you live within 60 minutes’ drive of our TrainCare Centre.

Key responsibilities:

This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:

Leading and directing the plant maintenance team and control third party contractors to provide effective maintenance of plant equipment and undertake plant maintenance work
Plan, co-ordinate and allocate work within the team to meet required targets and priorities
Assisting the outstation Depot Managers in the Management of plant, infrastructure, equipment, and capital expenditure for project work
Liaise with Outstations Depot Managers/Supervisors and Engineering Facilities Manager to determine work priorities, identify best practice and continuous improvement
Inspire and develop the plant team towards greater self-development, self-motivation, self-management and accountability
Managing all plant team working hours (Via TMS) rosters, attendance at work, leave arrangements, sickness, absence and poor performance
Maintain integrity of plant inventory.
About you:

We are looking for self-driven, safety orientated professional with proven experience in maintenance and service operations. You’ll need to be fully qualified with a level 3 NVQ or a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical & electrical engineering. What’s really important is an ability to work as part of a team and to be able to think on your feet, in sometimes demanding situations.

Someone who will lead by example, ensuring your team are supported, motivated and always engaged
Providing support and relay our high standards to the team and any new members
The ability to prioritise and be adaptable when things can change as well as managing your day to day workload
Self-driven / ability use initiative whilst managing complex workloads, whilst continuing to adhere to our working policies
Confidence to build relationships and work with a wide variety of people and teams
Effective decision making, where immediate responses can be required
