Do you have a passion for delivering high standard Acute Medicine services in a team of forward-thinking and innovative Physicians?

This is the perfect opportunity to join our team of consultants and become part of the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. You will have the chance to develop your skills and confidence under the guidance of an inspiring team.

Located in the western part of Cambridgeshire, the historic town of Huntingdon has been transformed by town development schemes bringing improvements in housing, education, and employment opportunities. The hospital is accessible by road or train within easy commute distance from London, Cambridge, Leicester or Birmingham.

We are seeking dedicated Consultant Acute Physicians to join our well-established team in the delivery of acute medical care across Acute Medicine department on the Medical or Acute Assessment Unit, the Short Stay Unit and the Ambulatory Care Unit.

We will encourage and support you to develop further your specialist interest by participating in clinical research, as well as to develop a clinical leadership role. We will offer appropriate office accommodation, secretarial and IT support to help with your research projects.

We are welcoming applications from specialists in Acute Internal Medicine or General Internal Medicine recognised by the EEC.

Flexibility is the key to a happy team who is able provide better patient care. All our roles are offered fulltime and/or part-time with cross-site services.

The MAU/AAU sees, assesses, and treats patients in our acute unselected medical take. The ambulatory care is overseen by a consultant and staffed by specialty doctors and by advanced nurse practitioners. The Short Stay Ward receives medical patients likely to be discharged within 72 hours of admission and achieves a high turnover of patients per day.

The sessional commitment are 10 PAs (8.5 DCC+ 1.5 SPA) where additional SPAs can be considered depending on additional roles undertaken. Additional SPAs are routinely allocated for additional responsibilities, such as educational supervision.

The on-call commitment is of 1:6.

You will provide a high quality, safe and compassionate care to the acutely ill medical patients admitted to our hospital and provide them the best possible experience during their admission.

You will be actively involved in teaching, training and supervising the doctors, nurses, and students in order to promote a positive and supportive atmosphere.

Clinical governance activities such as audits, mortality review and appraisal processes are key to your responsibilities, ensuring that the clinical guidelines are developed and adhered to in line with evidence-based best practice.
