Job description
The imperative and the solutions for the development and deployment of medical associate professions (MAPs) varies by geography and specialty. Experienced senior clinical leadership is required to ensure delivery and is a central purpose of this role. The ideal candidate will be a credible clinical leader with a keen interest and, ideally, hands-on experience in the services and specialties associated with MAPs. The Specialist Education Advisor will advise the Medical Director and Senior Responsible Officer, to ensure clinical excellence and relevance in the evolving educational landscape for medical associate professions. They will work closely with the nominated Strategic Education Lead, ensuring the effective clinical leadership and supporting the complex stakeholder management required to strategically shape the national MAP programme, translate policy into educational practice and deliver on related NHS Long-Term Workforce Plan actions.
The purpose of this role is to provide specialist clinical advice and leadership for the initiation, development and implementation of guidance, frameworks and policies in support of MAP education and training policy development and implementation.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
This role is a fixed-term contract for 24 months to enable the postholder to make a maximum contribution to key national priorities and priority developments relating to medical associate professions clinical expansion and reform. The role will:
1. Build strong collaborative relationships with the higher education system, NHS providers and system partners to develop models for high quality, innovative training, and education, utilising strong leadership and the ability to influence and motivate other towards a shared vision.
2. Communicate values, strategic plans and service direction to help all colleagues understand how they are affected. Also creates opportunities for people to contribute their views and ideas.
3. Lead on the initiation, development and implementation of guidance, frameworks and policies in support of education and training policy development and implementation across the service actively promoting continuous service improvement.
4. Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive, or contentious information in environments that would require the highest level of interpersonal skills to provide assurance or seek agreement.
5. Works with others, providing clinical expertise, advice and leadership, in the development of policy, strategy and frameworks to support the delivery of key national priorities.
