The Organisation:
A responsible and progressive charity, aiming to provide social justice and support to vulnerable groups of people across the UK; victims of domestic violence, ex-offenders, young people, people with mental health difficulties and those struggling with substance misuse. They are a well-established organisation with a positive market reputation and over 20 years of experience in supported living.
This company are currently operating supported housing services for rehabilitating ex-offenders that have left a prison setting. The service ensures the instilling of independent living skills, positive wellbeing and personal development within ex-offenders, working towards their bettering of life and prevention of repeat offending.
The Opportunities:
- Night Support Workers are employed on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week across shifts between 8:15PM to 7:45AM, across a 7-day rota, which is issued in advance.
- Competitive pay rates; Night Support Workers are paid £13.42 (PAYE) or £17.53 (Umbrella).
- Contract length will be 12-weeks before a transition to a permanent contract within our client’s company.
- You will be based in a supported accommodation service in the Ladyshot area of Harlow, Essex.
The Responsibilities:
- Carrying out initial assessment of the potential or actual service user, including any risks, or their needs and requirements in respect of the service on offer.
- Maintaining contact on a regular basis with service users in accordance with the requirements of the service. This includes maintaining a professional relationship and being a good role model to service users.
- Assessing risk and take the necessary actions in respect of any activities with service users including personal safety.
- Developing relationships with appropriate external groups/agencies in support of services users' needs and requirements.
- Responding to internal or external complaints promptly, challenging any anti-social behaviour and reporting any risks.
The Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children & young people. This can be in industries such as education, social care, healthcare etc.
- Proactive and patient personality.
- Proven personal or working experience in conflict resolution.
The Desirables:
- Ideally, candidates will have a full UK driving license or live nearby to central Harlow to access the service with ease.
- Relevant training to housing or health and social care.
- Over 3 years’ experience within a relevant position i.e., Support Worker.
- Previous experience in positions such as Youth Support Worker, Housing Support Worker, Life Skills Support Worker etc.
