Job Title: Network Engineer (Contractual)

Position: Network Engineer (Contractual)
Responsibilities:
Should support rapid and accurate troubleshooting, diagnosis and installation of the Customer's network equipment and components under the co-ordination and direction of the global network management team, including:
• patching cable installation and recovery
• installing power leads; installing removing or swapping equipment
• locating and or identifying network circuits and tagging the demark location
• providing escort services for Customer Third Party Vendors;
• adhering to onsite HSSE and risk management processes as required to support the GNM, including conducting walkthroughs, work permits, change management, attending safety training and reporting Incidents:
• assisting the GNM with an asset register / CMDB;
• support and assist in the troubleshooting and testing network equipment and components, including:
• restarting equipment
• troubleshooting and patching power cables
• identifying a switch port location
• pinging key Devices and performing DNS lookups
• troubleshooting, installing, and where necessary removing equipment and/or components
• Assisting with the identification and reporting of communications room environmental issues to the GNM.
Requirements:
• Knowledge of Network Devices such as Switches, Routers, Wireless Access Points preferably CISCO certified.
• Knowledge / understanding of assigning switch ports to specific VLANs
• Patch phone ports to switch as needed
• Troubleshooting of Avaya VOIP phones (knowledge on basic configuration)
• Troubleshoot issues with fiber links between switches – Able to visualize errors and communicate to remote technical teams
• Troubleshoot and replace network switch chassis blades when required
• Good to have an understanding of any Data Center Infrastructure Management Application
• A periodic (minimum twice weekly) visual check of the IDF rooms for cooling and power status (specifically UPS alarms and PDU health) Control-M, EMC Avamar, Data Domain
• Basic Knowledge of Monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, etc.
• Networking and Operating System basics
• Assist network and data centre admins (Internal, Customer and Vendor) as required during technical troubleshooting
• Basic knowledge about Hardware like Servers and storage devices
• Knowledge of the Monitoring Tool outcome
• Basic knowledge of ITSM tool preferably ServiceNow
• Basic knowledge of Backup technologies preferably EMC Avamar
• Basic knowledge of Operating Systems- Windows 2003 servers Enterprise/Standard Edition, UNIX & Linux
• Basic knowledge about Windows 2003 Active Directory structure, MS Exchange 2003, and File/Print Server
• Experience in SLA base environment
• Knowledge of Server Performance monitoring preferred
• Should be able to perform IMACD Installation, Move, Add, Change, and Disposal Services of the data centre, network equipment
• Should have hands-on experience in large/medium enterprise data centres or hosting sites consisting of Servers, Storage and Network devices
• Should have all local language proficiency and communication ability in English and French at B2 level is mandatory.
• Should be flexible to work round the clock on-call basis as and when required apart from scheduled shift
• Should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in above mentioned area
Network Support

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP) are highly desirable.
