Research Chemist – Rubber Materials

Our client is a global leader in the development and manufacture of a range of specialised seals and gaskets used in the oil & gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and other key sectors.
They are seeking an experienced R&D Chemist to support the formulation, development and delivery of new products and manufacturing technology and provide effective scientific and technical stewardship in support of the business.
The role requires a high element of technical input at theoretical and practical levels and will also require some commercial contact with new and existing customers, especially with regard to new products during the later stages of development.
Candidate
Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Rubber Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or closely related subject. Masters and PhD graduates will also be considered.
Background in Chemistry or Materials Science is required with experience in formulation / product development. The role includes formulation of products containing rubber so knowledge of rubber chemistry will be an advantage. Knowledge and experience in nanotechnology or composite materials would also be preferable.
Must have previous experience of working in a similar technical / laboratory environment.
Experience of chemical / materials testing.
Experience of using and understanding complex technical equipment.
Driving licence essential.
IT literate, proficient in MS Office packages and familiar with statistics packages and project management principles.
Able to prioritise tasks and work on own initiative.
Organised and structured with excellent time management skills.
Able to write reports and present data accurately and informatively.
Good written and oral communication skills.
