The role
As a Project Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll support the performance of a key department within Devonport, which have a large contribution to the through-life support for submarines, and associated systems and equipment as part of a continuing commitment to support our nation's naval capability.
Day to day, you’ll provide project engineering support to the operations and maintenance teams, specifically to coordinate and lead the planning & readiness activities for planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Arrange and coordinate the readiness activities that enable the delivery of planned and corrective maintenance – put in place what’s required to deliver maintenance safely and efficiently on assets and facilities.
- Support reactive, unplanned maintenance and repair activities and be prepared to lead on the required actions or actively support them.
- Attend or lead maintenance readiness planning meetings, compile and present status reports, and provide accurate updates for the work you’re leading.
- Arrange and coordinate the readiness activities that enable the movement of mobile assets that support maintenance of Royal Naval vessels.
- Act as technical representative on site, coordinating resources and making things happen, surveying assets to determine requirements or to escort sub-contractors and or visitors
This role is full time, 36 hours based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard with hybrid working from home arrangements.
Essential experience of the Project Engineer:
- Experience working within a maintenance or repair organisation working with complex assets, plant, and equipment.
- Experience of Planning activities for the delivery of a service or product and coordinating the readiness of requirements.
- Previous experience working within a regulated environment where working within defined operating procedures is a requirement.
- Competent Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) user with a capability to learn other job related software.
- Experienced communicator with the ability to present and liaise with various stakeholders both internal and external to the business.
- Self-motivated, ‘will-do’ attitude, adaptable and willing to learn and be challenged.
Qualifications for the Project Engineer:
- NVQ Level 3 / ONC in engineering discipline or equivalent experience,
- Project Management qualifications and experience would be beneficial but full training will be provided within the first 12 months.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
