Job description
Build Recruitment has just taken on an instruction from one of the largest multi–disciplinary consultancies in the UK to assist with their search for an Associate Project Manager.
This role will require someone who is a strong hands on Project Manager who is also capable of leading a team of more junior PM's and assisting with the business development efforts to further grow the region. The successful candidate will Ideally be chartered RICS, CIOB, RIBA, MICE. The work will be across a variety of sectors for both private and public sector clients, so will require someone who is an all rounder.

Responsibilities
- Assist in leading and managing the Project Management team.
- Handle client management and explore additional business opportunities.
- Participate in business development forums, such as Sector Groups.
- Establish connections within the Project Management Discipline across all offices.
- Aim to expand the group by acquiring new and recurring clients.
- Define detailed client briefs and outline the responsibilities of consultants and specialists.
- Establish lines of communication and reporting procedures with clients and within the design team.
- Organise feasibility studies, including site surveys, site investigations, and site evaluations.
- Provide guidance on and implement the selection and appointment of all necessary consultants and specialists.
- Coordinate and obtain planning consents and all necessary statutory approvals.
- Prepare and maintain the master programme for all pre and post–contract activities and monitor progress.
- Manage finances from inception to completion, including cash flow forecasts, monitoring project expenditure, and making recommendations for client payments, internal budgets, and resourcing.
- Manage the Design Team, taking the lead on risk and value management.
- Interview and select contractors for tendering or negotiation, evaluate tenders received, and appoint contractors.
- Inspect and monitor construction works for quality and conformity to agreed specifications and drawings.
- Oversee the administration of the Building Contract, including the preparation of all necessary instructions and certificates.
- Chair progress, coordination, and project meetings throughout the contract period.
- Prepare regular reports for clients on all aspects of project inspection, scheduling, and acceptance of works required under the defects liability and maintenance provisions of the contract.
- Hold day–to–day responsibility for projects.
Skills
- Ideally chartered RICS, CIOB, RIBA, MICE
- BSc/MSc in a relevant engineering / project management related subject
- Significant experience in a similar role
- Significant consultancy construction project management experience
- The ability to lead a series of projects and Client relationships, with limited support
- The ability to set up and drive new projects from inception, including the early stages of site de–risking, to completion and close out
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and particularly MS Project and/or Asta PowerProject is essential
