Job description
What you will do in your working day
To assist in the increased volumes of UK Ocean Import shipments.
The successful candidate will be hard working and value the importance of communication, teamwork and integrity alongside continuous development.
Most importantly the successful candidate will have a wish to grow and develop a career within the freight forwarding sector, as both their knowledge and experience grows.
Alongside internal “on-the-job” training you will be supported through the International Freight Forwarder Specialist Apprenticeship that will give you the skills and knowledge to develop a successful career within the logistics sector.
Main duties for this exciting opportunity will include but not limited to:
- Supporting colleagues with operational duties.
- To effectively liaise with clients, suppliers and colleagues using a variety of communication methods.
- To gain a thorough understanding of the freight forwarding environment.
- To understand and manage the bookings process.
- To deal with and raise all required documentation.
- Liaise with carriers, handling agents and customers effectively, providing a high level of customer service at all times.
- To understand and manage transport requirements.
- To understand the sales quotations and pricing process.
- To raise invoices to customers and agents.
- To effectively use the in-house systems available.
- General administrative duties to support the branch.
- To develop an understanding of compliance with regards to customs, import and export laws and regulations.
The training you will be getting
International Freight Forwarding Specialist Level 3 - Ocean pathway.
- On the job training delivered by the employer
- Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the end point assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement the apprenticeships English and mathematics minimum requirement is Entry Level 3
- Allocation of an apprenticeship delivery coach who will carry out regular training
- Assessment and support visits to ensure you acquire new learning, knowledge skills and behaviours in order to progress and develop
- Identify, track and support 6 hours off the job training activities
- Quarterly formal progress review meetings, identifying learning achievements and next steps

We support all our apprentices and actively seek career progression pathways for them upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
