To meet the needs of patients, GP practices are working together within their local areas.

Yeovil Primary Care Network aims to share the resources of local practices and collaborate, together with others who provide health resources in Yeovil. This collaborative approach to care provision allows for enhanced services and opportunities for patients to receive more personalised care.

We are now looking for a General Practice Assistant to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis – but part-time hours will be considered.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an administrator with a background in a GP practice or healthcare environment to join our excellent collaboration of organisations.

Your knowledge and skill set will support the efficiency in all we do, allowing us to provide expert care to countless patients across the Yeovil area.

We’ll provide you with comprehensive training over a six-nine month period to equip you with everything you need to know about the five areas of the General Practice Assistant role.

The Role

As a General Practice Assistant, you will undertake a range of administrative tasks to ensure the smooth running of our practices.

Specifically, you will arrange appointments, referrals and tests and liaise with external agencies regarding treatment. You will explain treatment procedures, processes, and pathways to patients, as well as providing some basic healthcare procedures (after training).

Additionally, you will:

- Maintain accurate records
- Support nursing staff and Practice Managers
- Support with chronic disease and drug monitoring recall systems
- Manage the post

About You

To be considered as a General Practice Assistant, you will need:

- Experience of clerical and administrative work
- Experience of working in a GP practice or healthcare environment
- Experience and a good understanding of operating Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience and good working knowledge of patient/client confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- To be educated to A-Level standard with GCSE (or equivalent) passes in English and Maths, or possess equivalent experience working in a similar role

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a DBS check.
