Our financial services are vital not only to the everyday running of HMRC but to building the Department’s future as a trusted, modern tax and customs department. To do this, we need great people like you to support and build a professional, empowered and inclusive Finance Function right across HMRC.

You will carry out work placements across a range of Finance teams, which will give you a unique experience of how finance works within HMRC, ensuring that you gain the variety and breadth of experience.

You will study towards an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 3 apprenticeship. After 18 months, completion of the Level 3 apprenticeship and a successful assessment, you will be offered promotion to Officer and you will receive a salary uplift. You will also progress to complete AAT Level 4 apprenticeship for a further 18 months.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Analysis of the ledger to understand the financial position and supporting the team to produce financial reports.
• Provide support in producing accounts and estimates by collating evidence and information, performing reconciliations and ensuring data inputs and transfers to systems are actioned.
• Accurately recording transactional data and support an appropriate level of evidence collection.
• Partnering with business areas and other stakeholders to help them follow processes accurately.
• Assist in maintaining and improving the quality of data including data cleansing, assisting in maintaining process maps.
