Job description
We are recruiting on behalf of our industry leading Herefordshire client who require a Production Supervisor to join them on a full-time and permanent basis.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative, results driven and dynamic production management professional who demonstrates confident organisation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to make decisions efficiently and adapt to changing situations.
What the successful candidate can expect:
- A competitive salary of £45,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)
- Weekend shift allowance £300 per month, working two 4 hour shifts per month
- Working hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Pension contributions from the company of up to 10% if employee puts in 5%
- 33 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays)

You will be responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating the overall activities of the department, ensuring that key performance indicators of safety, quality, productivity, and cost are met.
What you will be doing:
- Supervises staff and hourly-rated employees, ensuring adherence to established procedures
- Reports to the Production Manager and oversee safety, quality, delivery/throughput, cost, and people in the section
- Ensures compliance with HSE regulations and supports zero harm, zero defects, productivity, and OEE improvement plans
- Manages staffing levels, training, absence, and overtime to support the weekly production plan
- Leads, motivates, and engages with Team Leaders and Production Operators through effective communication and involvement in improvement teams
- Ensures adherence to the daily plan and achieves production targets
- Plans and reviews labour, equipment, tooling, and supply requirements to achieve throughput and productivity targets
- Supports management responsibilities including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and problem resolution
- Conducts accident investigations, incident reporting, and risk assessments, promoting safe work systems
- Utilises process improvement and lean manufacturing tools to drive improvements
- Oversees 6S and participates in zero harm processes to reduce risks
- Supports adherence to preventative maintenance plan and handles people management issues
- Ensures timely approval of time and attendance systems for the shift
- Develops a working relationship with union representatives and communicates departmental change
What we are looking for:
- Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience
- Extensive production experience within an industrial environment
- Ideally degree or relevant experience
- Able to support the deployment of department/business objectives into day-to-day plans and roll out and delegate to teams
- Able to clearly identify day to day priorities and create action plans to deliver
- Acts in a manner that maintains a positive and productive work environment with customers, clients, coworkers and suppliers
- Working knowledge of Continuous improvements methodology
- IT literate
