Job description

Exciting Opportunity: Lead English Teacher (SEND/SEMH) - East Grinstead Area - Full-Time

 

Summary:

To lead, manage, develop and be accountable for delivering the English curriculum to our learners throughout Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 in order to ensure the highest possible standards of pupil progress and attainment.
To develop opportunities to improve the range and quality of experiences students can engage in within and outside the curriculum including opportunities for speaking, listening,
communication, reading, and writing To develop and promote a culturally vibrant learning community.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide a safe, nurturing classroom and school environment that helps students to develop as learners;
● Consistently plan, resource and deliver lessons that allow stimulating and enjoyable learning to take place across the whole school. To include accredited courses and qualifications
up to GCSE;
● Ensure that all students are given quality feedback in order to make rapid and sustained progress;
● development of sound literacy skills for all students;
● In discussion with the Headteacher and Deputy Head, Learning and Education, plan and prepare engaging lessons based on agreed schemes of work;
● Teach engaging and effective lessons that motivate, inspire and improve student attainment;
● Use regular assessments to monitor progress and set targets and determine appropriate intervention;
● Ensure that all students achieve at chronological age level or, if well below level, make significant and continuing progress
towards achieving at level;
● Maintain accurate student data that can be used to make teaching more effectively;
● In conjunction with the Headteacher and Deputy Head of Learning and Education, identify the intervention needs of students and appropriate strategies to improve attainment;
● Help to maintain/establish excellent standards of behaviour for learning across the school;
● Maintain regular and productive communication with parents, to report on progress, sanctions and rewards and to relay other relevant information;

 

Lead Responsibilities

● Teaching and learning

● Leading and supporting staff
● Pupil progress and attainment
● The efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources

 

The core hours for this role are 8.45 – 4.00, Monday - Friday during
term time. On occasion you will be required to work additional
hours to enable you to fulfil your role. 

You will be required to participate in 6 Inset days a year, Maybo and
other training as necessary during school holidays or at weekends
during term time and other training during lunch breaks in term time.

The applicant will have to drive due to the location of the school, situated in the rural villages between Haywards Heath, East Grinstead and Crawley area.

 

Applicants must have DBS or a rich background in GCSE English Teaching and SEMH/SEND.
