Job description

Our client is a leading fabricator of products for the offshore industry. Due to recent growth and with new projects imminent, they now require a Facilities Manager to work from their busy North East facility.


The Role


Inspiring and leading a large team
Overseeing and agreeing contracts and providers for services including gardening, security, parking, cleaning, catering and IT.
Supervising teams of staff including cleaning, maintenance and security.
Ensuring that basic facilities, such as water, drainage and heating, are well-maintained.
Managing maintenance and staffing budgets.
Ensuring that facilities meet government legislation, regulations and health and safety standards.
overseeing building projects and renovations.
Providing adequate welfare facilities for a large workforce.
Discussing maintenance concerns with the employer and communicating these to Maintenance Workers
Staying on-call and responding to emergency maintenance needs
A proven leader able to drive change and inspire teams
Technical understanding of electrical, mechanic and hydraulic systems for planning and troubleshooting including legislation
Proficiency operating modern maintenance technology, including ERP and CRM systems
Good verbal communication skills, including active listening and the ability to translate complex information
Organisational skills for scheduling maintenance tasks and ensuring job completion, even during emergencies
Attention to detail, ensuring maintenance tasks are not overlooked and minor site problems do not become major site problems
Adapts to changing circumstances, accepting new ideas and initiatives for change and adjust reactions according to people or situations.

The Person


Demonstrable experience in a similar role ideally within a heavy engineering environment
Able to create maintenance schedules and delegating tasks to team members
Experienced in conducting site inspections and identifying areas requiring extra maintenance work
Able to develop planned preventative maintenance schedules and implementing them
History of advising on building/plant stock condition and create an investment plan
Experience of supervising maintenance workers and ensuring they follow safe work practices
