Oldham Engineering Limited is a well-established medium sized engineering business with a long history and exciting plans for business growth.
The Role:
Efficiency Engineer will be responsible for optimising processes, improving productivity, and enhancing the overall efficiency of our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of laser cutting, press brake machinery, and robotic handling systems, along with strong problem-solving abilities, particularly in addressing machine downtime.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse current laser cutting, press brake, and preferably robotic welding processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimise machine utilisation, reduce cycle times, and increase throughput.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and maintenance, to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot technical issues, focusing particularly on minimising machine downtime.
- Implement proactive maintenance schedules and predictive maintenance techniques to prevent unplanned equipment failures and reduce downtime.
- Design and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and uptime of manufacturing equipment.
- Train production staff on best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety protocols.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and meeting production targets.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for laser cutting, press brake, and robotic handling processes, providing technical guidance and support to the production team.
- Always follow the company's Health & Safety Policy.
About You:
- Proven experience in laser cutting, press brake operations, and preferably robotic handling systems within a manufacturing environment. Experience in two of these areas is required, with robotic handling being preferable but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, and automation systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to address machine downtime issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience with equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and process optimisation.
