Starting Salary: £38,989 – £48,336 dependant on skills & experience
Bonus: Up to 10% base salary per annum, based on achievement of Company targets and personal performance.
Working Pattern: Days (37 hours a week, typical hours are 07:30 – 15:40 or 08:10 – 16:20)
Location: Whitehaven, Cumbria or Risley, Warrington
Contract: Permanent

What will the successful candidate be doing:

Sellafield Advanced Business Analytics enables underpinned decision making by providing the required insight at the right time using data science methods, simulations modelling and operational research techniques. SABA’s capability directly impacts key decision making across the business on some of the most challenging projects in the UK.

Analyst Developers lead, support, configure and maintain the SABA IT platforms. Types of software include commercial off the shelf and bespoke applications such as Flexsim, Simulation Manager, Saker Grid, Avert and Demplus along with 3 tier web platforms developed for the business value streams and supporting functions.

They work with internal stakeholders to understand business problems and assist in defining solutions and providing technical input into solving business problems with SABA, ICT community & the supply chain. Develop Solutions as part of SABA Systems and Data Team, delivering solutions in a safe, secure, and professional manner in order to support Sellafield in its current and future missions, and enable digital transformation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide support for deployment, development, security, licensing, hardware & software, systems, processes and support arrangements for all SABA & SABA Business Applications.
• Provide specialist technical support and advice to Sellafield Ltd and the wider Sellafield Ltd community for existing and new solutions.
• Act as trouble-shooter to web based application queries from the SABA Team & SABA Application Customers.
• Support in upgrading existing software systems, migration of legacy systems to new solutions
• Provide input into Architecture designs & application solutions and frameworks to enable custom application delivery
• Provide input into defining Bespoke Development standards and practices for the
• Wider Sellafield Ltd development community, including (but not limited to) source control, work management, infrastructure, tooling, techniques, and methodologies.
• Assist with Governance for multiple business systems & pushing new applications into production

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field. Or equivalent work experience.
• Detailed knowledge of relevant technical areas and processes:
Web based applications (IIS)
3 tier Architecture (Web, App, Database)
Database administration, Microsoft SQL Server
Application scripting deployment (software & Application installs)
• Supply Chain delivery experience
• Experience with working with 3rd party ICT support companies
• Good communication skills with the ability to advise others using technical knowledge
• Computer literate, including a good working knowledge of relevant computer software
• Data workflow/process design and implementation experience.
• System administration & problem solving
• Requirements gathering/refining.
• Extensive specialist IT work experience in bespoke applications development, installation and modification.

Desirable Skills:
• Testing & Version control
• Application scripting deployment (software & Application installs)
• Database front end application
• Grid computing
• ETL Experience
• ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise knowledge.
• PostgreSQL
• Good analytical skills with the ability to spot trends and patterns
• Containerisation/Docker knowledge
