Financial Controller / Accountant for Construction Company in Bridgwater
15–20 hours per week

Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting for a construction company based in Bridgwater who is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable individual to join their team as an Accountant. In the role, you will be responsible for the management of the finance function and will be a crucial member of our team. Our client is looking for someone who is hands–on, with a strong background in finance and a passion for the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the finance function, including a member of staff, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
Prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
Oversee the production of statutory and financial reports on Sage
Manage TAX and VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulations
Prepare monthly journals and VAT returns
Participate in the end to end accounting process, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Perform ad–hoc analysis and reporting as requested by the management
Qualifications & Skills:
Extensive experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry
Strong knowledge of Sage accounting software
Experience with TAX and VAT returns
Excellent understanding of financial reporting and regulations
Excellent time management and organisational skills
Self–motivated and detail–oriented
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Hands–on approach with a can–do attitude
