We are on the lookout for a dedicated and empathetic
Sports Coach/PE Teacher to join the team at a reputable Behavior Secondary School in
Fareham . Your prime responsibility will be to support the PE teacher in a Secondary PRU(Pupil Referral Unit) This role is perfect for individuals seeking valuable experience before pursuing teacher training.
Role and Responsibilities: As a Sports Coach, your pivotal role involves:
- Personalized Physical Education Support: Collaborating closely with secondary students who require extra assistance in physical education, delivering tailored support to address their unique needs, whether in sports activities, fitness, or personal care when necessary.
- Implementing Individualized Plans: Working alongside teachers and SENCOs, you will help execute and modify Individual Education Plans (IEPs) related to physical education, supporting students in reaching physical milestones and monitoring their progress.
- P romoting Positive Behavior in Physical Activities : Modeling and encouraging positive behavior in sports and physical activities, reinforcing school policies, and managing challenging behaviors effectively while guiding appropriate social interactions.
- Facilitating Inclusive Physical Education: Creating an inclusive physical education environment that fosters a sense of value and support for all students, collaborating with teachers and staff to ensure full participation in sports and fitness activities.
- Assisting with Physical Education Classroom Management : Supporting teachers in maintaining an organized and conducive learning environment in physical education, assisting with resources, equipment, and implementing strategies to enhance student engagement.
- Collaborating with Colleagues: Actively participating in team meetings, sharing insights, and contributing to the development of effective intervention strategies alongside teachers, SENCOs, and other teaching assistants.
Ideal Sports Coach Requirements: - Relevant experience working with students with special educational needs and challenging behaviors in the context of physical education.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
- Prior experience in dealing with children with special needs or challenging behavior is essential.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Commitment to promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities in physical education.
- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic educational environment.
To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach, you should: - Have the right to work in the UK.
- Possess at least 6 months of experience in an educational, healthcare or sports setting.
- Maintain an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last 2 years.
- Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
