The Department of Economics invites applications for two full-time tenure-track faculty positions at the Lecturer (Assistant Professor) level. These are teaching and scholarship focused positions, and we are particularly interested in candidates who have an interest in enhancing the underlying skills of our students to improve their employability and make them more competitive in the graduate labour market. You should have a PhD in Economics, or related field, by the time of the appointment, demonstrate knowledge of the pedagogy underlying the teaching of Economics, and have experience in teaching Economics. Initially you will be providing support to the Department’s undergraduate teaching portfolio year modules. In addition to delivering lectures and workshops, this support would take the form of working 1-to-1, or in small groups, with students on these modules as well as designing assessments - both formative and summative - with the module leaders. In the medium term, you would be leading the departmental initiative to provide a comprehensive ECON HUB which would formalise these support sessions.
You will be expected to participate fully in the intellectual life of the department, to maintain a high-quality scholarship agenda that reaches out to external networks of collaborators - such as the Economics Network - as well as contributing to scholarship activities within the Department and the School. The teaching responsibilities will consist of a contribution to core subjects in your areas of interest.
The Department of Economics forms an independent part of Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) - the most research-intensive business school in the UK (REF 2014 and REF2021). With over 40 members of faculty from more than 15 countries, the Department provides an international, collegial and dynamic environment with a commitment to world-class academic excellence.

The deadline for applications is 8th March 2024. Please submit: 1) a cover letter, 2) a CV, 3) a teaching statement, 4) a paper detailing your approach to the underlying pedagogy of delivery Economics modules to both specialists and non-specialists and 5) three letters of professional recommendation.
