Job description

We are looking for a Grant Funding and Fundraising Manager with experience of leading successful applications to grant makers and charitable trusts to help fund our life changing  services.

What will you be doing?

• This is an opportunity to make a huge difference to thousands of people who are isolated and lack a tool to put their knowledge and skills together to support themselves and each-other.
• You would reinforce our team with your funding strategy, grant application writing skills and knowledge of the processes and tips of the grant funding and general policy landscape.
• Ideally, we would like you to have 2-3 years experience of successful funding bids and some familiarity with the autism charity sector, but your transferable skills and enthusiasm are more important than experience with autism.
• We are working mainly in our online collaborative space and work remotely from home.
• Face meetings are possible if you are open to some travel.
• We would like to start without delay and are looking for a sustained commitment to bring the project to fruition.
• It would require about 2 hours per week. To be discussed.

What difference will you make?

According to NAS, there are around 700,000 people on the autism spectrum in the UK. If you include their families, autism affects 2.8 million people.

The right support at the right time can make an enormous difference to people's lives.

70% of autistic adults say that they are not getting the help they need. 70% of autistic adults also told NAS that with more support they would feel less isolated.

At least one in three autistic adults are experiencing severe mental health difficulties due to a lack of support.

Only 16% of autistic adults in the UK are in full-time paid employment, and only 32% are in some kind of paid work. 

Only 10% of autistic adults receive employment support but 53% say they want it.

You probably heard of the needs of autistic children. They all grow up and become autistic adults. Generations diagnosed in childhood are now joining the work force with no supporting services tailored to the new stage of their lives. Many autistic adults are diagnosed late in life, they are employed, have families, they are coping with their struggles until they reach the crisis point, yet they are ‘too able’ to qualify for any support. Existing services and charities focus on the children and on the adults with significant social care needs. We are trying to fill the gaps and this online platform is an essential tool from where to start.
