Talent Development Manager

Mass

Location

St Neots, Cambridgeshire | United Kingdom

Job description

Talent Development Manager - Cambridgeshire (PE19) – Perm

MASS is on an ambitious journey of exponential growth, and our People team support this journey through the growth, support and retention of our highly skilled workforce. We strive to offer an inclusive and engaging employee experience for all. This includes enabling development opportunities for everyone, and is where you come in.

In this newly created role, you’ll lead on a strategic approach to training and development; helping us to understand the existing skills the business, explore opportunities for both individuals and teams, and enable us to efficiently upskill and develop.

We’ll support you with a flexible, hybrid working practice, with an understanding that there will be a proportion of this role that needs regular travel for in-person delivery and collaboration with teams who may be working in secure environments across the UK, or at our Head Office, in Cambridgeshire, where you’ll be based. This is likely to be 2 days a week, but project-dependant.

How you’ll support us

Learning and Development is not a new concept at MASS, but as our first dedicated Talent Development Manager, your first job will be to understand the function that you are inheriting from our People Operations team, who partner with their areas of the business and support the whole employee lifecycle. You’ll then use your expertise in shaping how that function operates at scale.

We anticipate that you’ll be an intrinsic part of our employee’s career journey with us, right from their first day and Induction, to supporting each step of their progression.

From a business perspective, you’ll be close to you’ll manage the planning and delivery of all up-to-date training and development programmes, including owning our early careers programmes.

You’ll get to know stakeholders from across the business at all levels and get to understand the services that each of our niche teams supply. This will help you in shaping how we support base-level knowledge needs and where we can take opportunities to develop new skills or update programmes to support the diversification of our services.

You’ll also guide our leaders in skills including succession planning, management and leadership skills, including mentoring and coaching, and setting up individual learning plans. You’ll own a healthy budget and be confident in producing quality materials to support a credible learning experience for whatever audience you’re in front of.

The invaluable experience you’ll bring, to help us achieve more

We’re expecting that you’ve been successful in a similar, stand-alone role before, so you can lean on your experiences to shape what will work well and what to avoid when setting up a new function.

You will have formal foundations to your own knowledge, so you’ll hold an Associate CIPD Diploma (Level 5), ideally in Organisational Learning and Development, but at least in People Management.

We’re sitting at just over 300 employees, but this is a growing number, so it’s important that you know a broad spectrum of online and in-person learning solutions as well as the tracking, reporting and delivery infrastructure you will use to support that growth.

You’ll be a confident presenter; as, although you will definitely be able to rely on third-party providers to support you, you will be expected to deliver to individuals and groups at all levels.

Our non-negotiables:

Due to the highly-secure nature of the projects we are involved with, you mustbe eligible to work in the UK andbe eligible to undergo and maintain UK government SC Security Clearance.
