We are looking for our new Foundation Brakes Development Engineer to work within an agile Chassis team to deliver the P3A vehicle’s foundation brake system. The location of this role can either be in our UK or Croatian office.

Who and what will you be working with?
Amongst chassis engineering peers, you will work in a dynamic and innovative work environment that encourages collaboration and creativity. You will collaborate closely with adjacent vehicle engineering teams and various stakeholders to drive the successful delivery of our platform into vehicles.
What will you be responsible for?
- Report to the head of chassis – support overall delivery and technical status of the foundation brake systems.
- Work/lead an outsourced system integrator & tier 1 suppliers to deliver the brake attributes (performance, refinement, durability, residual drag torque, blending) the vehicle needs.
- Interface with internal manufacturing and virtual series’ teams and deliver content/resolve designs to their gateways.
- Chair regular foundation brake system reviews.
- Manage several tier 1 suppliers to deliver the foundation brake system.
- Manage and develop the foundation brake system FMEA & DVP.
- Managing system Risks, Issues, Actions & Decisions.
- Plan effectively and maintain Gantt charts/budget status within SmartSheets (similar to MS Excel/Project) for all foundation brake development work.
- Drive vehicle and conduct performance and NVH brake test work.
- Be able to set up and use instrumentation, including post processing.
- Lead and direct outsourced dyno activities.
- Write technical reports.
- Ensure all parts are well designed and delivered on time for vehicle builds and testing. Coordinate with colleagues where necessary to ensure smooth delivery (e.g. where suspension parts are needed for NVH dyno testing – the successful applicant will be expected to ensure the prototype parts requirement is effectively communicated).
- Awareness of foundation brake CAE processes and activities, checking model assumptions relate to the P3A vehicle brakes attribute balance. E.g. awareness of 1D sizing, thermal FEA, structural FEA, complex eigen value simulation etc.
- Support the overall Foundation brakes system delivery.
- Lead foundation brake development & refinement activities.
- Be adaptable to ensure the “chassis” team succeed in delivering the P3a vehicle on time to quality.
Who are we looking for?
To help achieve our goals, we need someone with
- Degree in mechanical engineering or similar.
- >6 years automotive foundation brake experience.
- Planning experience essential – ideally qualification e.g. Prince2/APM.
- Experience of chassis commodity engineering.
- Experience of releasing and quality checks such as GD&T
- Experience of on vehicle NVH and performance testing.
- Experience of managing dyno testing activities.
- Experience in a “Start-up” business is desirable.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Software toolset
- Siemens TeamCentre (releasing and BoM management).
- MS office 365 tools (outlook, teams, word, excel etc.).
- Planning & development of Gantt charts (i.e. smartsheets or MS project).
- Data acquisition post processing s/w (e.g. Prosig Dats/matlab etc.)
This person needs to
- Have strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Have experience of working in a startup is preferable
- Be eligible to work in the UK if UK is your preferred location of work (sponsorship not available)
- Be able to travel domestically and internationally as defined by the project need
