On behalf of our client, ITS Construction Professionals South are searching for an experienced Finance Director to join a dynamic and forward–thinking Construction and Hospitality company in Dorset.
You will be working alongside the CEO and MD with key activities including the preparation of the annual statutory accounts and liaising with auditors to ensure statutory requirements are met; financial reporting; budgeting; forecasting; modelling and planning. Preparing and delivering accurate monthly management accounts, including reviewing P&L, and balance sheet, whilst keeping a close eye on cash flow.
You will be operationally responsible for the Commercial Director, Finance Accountant and 3 x Finance Assistants.
Responsibilities include - Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, creating strategies and financial roadmaps to support business growth objectives and maximise commercial opportunities.
- Strategic forecasting, financial modelling, income generation and compliance to support the delivery of business objectives.
- Review existing Finance operations, generating and implementing changes to improve processes and efficiencies within the team and driving the adoption and optimised use of technology.
- Using data and insight to improve performance and cash generation by moving the relevant commercial and operational levers across the business.
- Manage the production of monthly management accounts including analysis of Prior year, Budget vs. Actual for the month and YTD.
- Lead the monthly reporting of investment spend/other expenses against budget/forecast to stakeholders with an understanding of the drivers behind key variances and the future impact on project progress.
- Produce a consolidated monthly report of income and expenditure for the Group which will be reported to the board.
- Monthly Balance Sheet Report To include all month–end reconciliations for each balance sheet line items Debtors, Creditors, Banks, Advances Received, Maintenance in Advance etc.
- Support the Finance Accountant and Commercial Director to work alongside the operational teams, ensuring they understand their performance vs expectation, identifying opportunities and mitigating risks.
- Facilitate any re–forecasting process, revising cost templates with actual costs allocated against budget items and assisting budget holders with updating the future forecast data.
- Be a key point of contact for the external auditors, including preparing information and managing queries during audit visits, taking the lead on the preparation of the annual statutory accounts.
- Continuous focus on improving the finance processes, ensuring a strong control environment is maintained.
- Oversee the payroll function approving monthly payroll costs.
Key Requirements - Finance Qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience
- Experience of operating at board level or similar for a minimum of 5 years.
- In–depth knowledge of financial regulations and reporting standards
- Developing effective commercial strategies using evidence–based data via data analysis
- Construction and/or Leisure and Tourism industry experience.
- Tech–enabled with experience using industry–leading software to drive efficiency and enhance reporting capabilities.
Where a range of rate of pay is quoted the level of experience, qualifications & related training required is the minimum required in order to qualify for the lowest rate of pay quoted.
