The Office of Manpower Economics (OME) is an independent body providing the secretariat for the eight public sector Pay Review Bodies, which make recommendations on pay for 2.5 million workers, with a pay bill of £100 billion. Each Pay Review Body is an NDPB and its Chairs and Members hold senior, non-Executive type roles. OME is part of Competition, Markets and Regulatory Reform Group in the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and our work on public sector pay contributes to supporting an efficient and flexible UK labour market.

Everyone has full access to DBT training and development opportunities and we are fully committed to playing our part in building an inclusive DBT environment.

- Lead on the administrative and organisational arrangements for all Review Body meetings for those four Pay Review Bodies, including oral evidence with Ministers and senior stakeholders from government departments, trade unions and public services.
- Lead on the processing of Pay Review Body member fees and expenses forms and accurately prepare claims for countersigning by senior colleagues.
- Communicate and engage effectively with a range of people, including internal and external staff and stakeholders, including monitoring and managing correspondence that arrives in group mailboxes. This will include dealing with stakeholder enquiries promptly and courteously by email, telephone or in person, referring to the relevant secretariat lead where appropriate.
- Support the Pay Review Body visits programme by leading on all members’ travel and accommodation bookings.
- Contribute to effective information management (including maintaining administrative and information resources of the Pay Review Bodies) and assist with the dissemination and/or collation of information/returns in a timely manner.
- Develop effective working relationships and communicate regularly within secretariat teams and with Pay Review Body members.
- Provide support to the secretariats throughout the year on a range of ad-hoc duties such as the regular Pay Review Body news briefs or proof-reading final reports.
- Oversee the overall approach to administrative support across all eight Pay Review Bodies, which over time is likely to include line management of 2 Administrative Officers who provide administrative support to other Pay Review Body secretariats.
- Provide cover for other members of the team in their absence and assist with their workloads as necessary.
- Identify, discuss and action own professional performance and training and development needs.
