Job description

Due to the promotion of the existing Head Teacher, Archway Learning Trust are excited to appoint an inspirational leader to be the Head of School at Bluecoat Primary Academy. The post holder will work alongside the Executive Head Teacher to continue to lead this highly successful academy and deliver its vision of “Striving for Life in all its fullness”.

The Bluecoat family shares a life-long love of learning and recognise that students and staff alike are on a journey, acquiring deep knowledge, expertise and understanding along the way.

The post holder will be joining the academy and trust at an exciting stage of their journey. The academy is a vibrant, positive, inclusive and nurturing Church of England Academy with highly dedicated, talented and hardworking staff. Children’s behaviour is exceptional: they are kind, respectful and are proud to represent BPA. The school has received recent successes in Ofsted and SIAMS inspections and has a good reputation within the community and diocese.

The school has strong leaders, structures and curriculum in place and is in a position to offer support to other schools within the trust. Archway Learning Trust has well established central service teams who offer expertise to leaders on aspects of HR, Finance, Estates etc. which enable leaders to focus on school improvement.

This post would be ideal for an experienced leader who wants to continue to motivate and develop the existing staff team, build on the existing strengths of the academy and ensure even better academic and personal outcomes for pupils. The successful candidate will need to be inspiring, confident and able to think creatively and strategically.

As Head of School, the post holder will work alongside, and be supported by, the Executive Head Teacher in order to lead the academy. The post holder will be responsible for standards at the academy and be the key leader for parents, pupils and staff. In addition to operational leadership of the school, the Head of School will be a strategic, innovative, inspiring and confident leader with a flexible and calm approach.

They will be able to lead, motivate, develop, and inspire a staff team through a collective vision and purpose. They will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of the Christian vision, ethos and school improvement strategy of the academy with pupils, parents, staff, Academy Advisory Board (AAB) members and the wider community. The post holder will be passionately committed to pupil and staff development alike and foster a culture of belonging and unrelenting ambition. They will have a good track record of addressing performance, driving change and raising standards. They will need the tenacity and integrity to deliver and sustain school

improvement in line with the Trust’s values of excellence, collaboration and inclusion. Previous experience of delivering school improvement will be essential.
