Job description

The young gentleman you would be caring for has complex needs. He has disabilities and health needs which are met with some adaptations and specialist equipment. He lives in his family home with his parents, so your place of work will be at the family home.

This gentleman requires someone who is patient, attentive, confident and caring. He requires his oxygen levels to be checked regularly and assistance to pass urine. A suction and cough assist machine sometimes needs to be used if he produces too much saliva. Medicines and nutrition/fluids are administered via PEG feed. He suffers from epilepsy and has regular seizures.

You will need to be a great team player and must hold at least the Care Certificate qualification. Experience of PEG feed, cough assist highly desirable.

Job Summary

To support a young adult with complex needs in his own home on a 2-1 basis.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a person-centred approach, be confident and must be very reliable.
It is highly desirable that candidates have a minimum of 1 year Health Care experience, although this may be negotiable for the right candidate(s).

Hours of work

5 days a week (Monday - Friday) from 9:30am to 3.00pm (27.5 hours per week)

Overtime and holiday cover available and required where necessary.

You will need to be young at heart, confident and outgoing and willing to work as part of a close team.

Due to my complex needs I will need you to have care sector experience.

You will believe that disabled people have the same rights as other people and should not be discriminated against in any way.

You will be fun to be with sociable, imaginative and caring.

You will be patient, because you will sit with me and be alert to my needs at all times.

You will want to help me to enjoy life and surroundings.

You will have the knowledge and skill (or be willing to take training) so as to help me with the personal needs listed.

You will be willing to work flexibly when required and be a team player.
