Job description

This role is a new post and focuses on leadership and supervision to the cadre of Clinical Teaching Fellows teaching the undergraduate medical students within the Academy of the Great Western Hospital. The Senior CTFs main role is to help the Academy Dean (AD), Deputy Deans, UG Manager, the UC / UTs and other teachers deliver the undergraduate curriculums of the three universities. This post will be made up of an educational leadership role (50%) delivered in the academy as well as a supernumerary clinical component in the NHS Trust (50%). A normal week must be split as evenly between academy and clinical. You may choose whichever clinical area you wish to work. You may choose to switch this area at each yearly interval. The post is suitable for doctors who have previous experience at the level of Clinical Teaching Fellow, an educationalist with ongoing clinical input. The successful candidate will be required to hold a post-graduate qualification in Medical Education (e.g. Certificate, Masters or higher degree Medical Education) The Lead CTF will work on a day-to-day basis with the Academy Undergraduate Manager and administrators, and the UC / UTs who are responsible for organizing the formal teaching programme and clinical placements for that Unit in their Academy.
