We are seeking a permanent Pre-Press Manager for our client, Huhtamaki based in their Belfast site. The successful candidate will manage the Pre-Press Department, meeting customer delivery and quality expectations whilst maximising production performance, minimising operating costs and continuously improving the department’s service levels to the factory..
Responsibilities
- Manage the department to optimise throughout and efficiency whilst minimising waste and ensuring customer expectations for quality and delivery are achieved and production schedules are met
- Manage continuous improvement in key aspects of departmental performance and production performance
- Ensure external suppliers of materials are coordinated effectively and meet expected specifications/tolerances and schedules
- Management of the pre-press process to improve operational efficiency and customer service
- Recruit, develop, motivate, and manage a pre-press team that maximises its performance potential and meets current and future business needs
- Control resource expenditure for labour, direct expense, and consumables within the approved budget for the department and provide early indication of any potential variances in order to assist the overall business forecasting.
- Builds commitment and motivation through good communication, encouragement, and teamwork
- Ensures compliance, particularly to hygiene, environmental and health and safety standards.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Ensure good relations and communications will all members of the team and provide excellent customer care in an efficient manner
- The job holder may be required to undertake such other reasonable duties as may be required of him / her in the post, the department mentioned above or in the company
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Minimum 3 years experience in related field such as packaging/graphic design
- Experience of managing/supervising in a unionised manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership qualities and capabilities
- Project management experience including delegation and progress review
- Proven experience in Apple and Windows operating systems
- Proven experience in pre press processes and software and oversight of same
- Proven experience in client web-based packaging artwork review and approval portals
- Proven experience to build print ready Packaging artwork onto approval CAD files and oversight of same
- Proven experience working to specific client briefs and adhere to brand guidelines for expected results
- Degree in Packaging Design, Industrial 3D design or related discipline or significant equivalent experience
- Excellent people management skills
- Budget management/cost control awareness
- Management of customer/supplier relationships
- Project management and problem solving
- Adobe Creative Suite skills such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat and colour correction and retouching to improve printability
- Esko Graphics software skills, especially Artpro to correct and retouch images in Photoshop repro & trapping processes and finalisation of packaging artwork files
- Digital prepress workflows, Rips, colour proofing systems and CTP equipment
- Production of print ready artwork from incorrect/poor quality files or copy supplied
- Self-motivated and driven
- Willingness and ability to work flexibly
- Commitment to and understanding of equal opportunities issues within a diverse and multicultural environment
Desirable Skills
- Experience in preparing artwork for lithographic and flexographic printing
- Print colour management software and X-rite equipment
