SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
JOB PURPOSE:
To improve the effectiveness of procurement & sourcing as a core strategic discipline and a major driver of value creation within PSC Global’s business.
To develop and implement robust processes around procurement activities focussing on:
- Identifying and evaluating new potential sources of supply
- Focus on the need for reduction in total cost of ownership .
- Taking the lead in commercial sourcing negotiations.
- Monitoring the achievement of savings against agreed cost reduction targets.
- Monitoring and managing all aspects of vendor performance in collaboration with the Quality Department.
- Tactical procurement activity.
- Supporting the sales team in delivering value to our customers, managing, and creating quotations in a timely manner.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supplier relationship management, including supplier approval, rating, and reviews.
- Identify new potential sources of supply, support all necessary technical appraisals and evaluations.
- Work with key suppliers to align stock availability to customer demand whilst reducing stock levels within the business using innovative supply chain methodologies.
- Be an enabler for sales growth, to identify sources of supply for customer specified items.
- Ensure product is delivered and stored in such a manner that is safe and supplied in appropriate packaging to support ease of onward processing or internal processing.
- Place orders for replenishment of product to meet customer orders and buffer stocking requirements.
- Ensure the suppler base operates full compliance with current policies both legal and company related to the supply of product.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Practical experience within the MRO / aftermarket and distribution sector. Sealing industry experience is desirable.
- Engineering procurement bias preferred. Understanding of material specifications, drawing interpretation & process capabilities
- Good knowledge of material requirement planning (MRP), preferable experience of implementing and developing MRP best practices
- Demonstrable supply chain knowledge, e.g., Stock, inventory turn improvement, freight, duty and transport cost improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience in project management.
- IT literate.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Generating year on year cost savings through purchasing process improvements and cost reduction negotiations.
- Develop planning models focused on material availability whilst reducing overall stock holding of the business.
JOB CHALLENGES:
- Working largely unsupervised, with internal support as required.
- Managing the issues involved in effectively supporting overseas operations.
RELATIONSHIPS:
You will report to the Operations Director. You must also respond promptly, courteously, and cooperatively to enquiries from other PSC employees regarding any queries they may have.
