Portfolio Manager

The Portfolio Manager will lead the strategic planning, oversight, and management of Group transformation and improvement projects as part of the Business Improvement and Transformation Team (BITT). This role is critical to ensuring alignment between projects and organizational objectives, optimizing resource allocation, and driving successful project execution. They will set and maintain the standards for all improvement and transformation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive project portfolio strategy aligned with the BITT's objectives and business goals.
- Support the prioritization and selection of projects, considering strategic importance, resource availability, scope and organizational capacity.
- Provide guidance and oversight to project managers and teams, ensuring project delivery within scope, budget, and timelines.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, and ensure effective communication to manage expectations and gather input.
- Manage project resource allocation and optimize resource utilization across the project portfolio.
- Establish and enforce quality assurance processes to ensure that deliverables meet the required standards and contribute to the overall success of the transformation.
- Define and track key performance indicators and metrics to measure the success and benefits realization of the business transformation initiatives.
- Conduct project risk assessments and develop risk mitigation plans to address potential project challenges, ensuring escalations are being made as required.
- Monitor and report on project performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), milestones, and budgetary adherence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify dependencies, synergies, and opportunities for efficiency across projects.
- Perform Project Manager role within specific projects as required
- Ensure the adoption of project management best practices, methodologies, and tools within the BITT and dedicated business/function project teams.
- Communicate project status and updates to senior leadership, and stakeholders, as per the BITT governance plan.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in project management practices.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Project Management, IT or related field strongly preferred.
- Recognised Project Management Certification
- Significant proven experience in project management, including experience with project portfolio or programme management.
- Demonstrated success in leading and delivering complex projects within scope, budget, quality standards and timelines.
- Experience in project portfolio management, including project prioritization and resource allocation.
- Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies and tools.
Desirable
- Recognised Portfolio Management certification preferred.
- Management of business improvement, software implementation/technology projects
