Job description
Looking for a Press Officer who can respond rapidly and quickly to all breaking news relevant to Fair Game’s agenda.
What will you be doing?
You would be essential in ensuring Fair Game responds rapidly and quickly to all breaking news relevant to Fair Game’s agenda. You will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Monitor the sports news and our various social media feeds, looking for any opportunity for stories that Fair Game could react to.
- Draft quotes to be shared with leading sports correspondents.
- Various copywriting duties from media quotes, pitches, web.
- The role is the first point of call for all incoming media enquiries and should be available at all times - even if only to delegate the request on to the right person.
- To monitor all of Fair Game’s social media channels
- To write press releases and send them out through Squarespace and place them on our website
- To try and secure extensive national broadcast coverage
- To attend weekly one-hour meetings with the Heads of the communications team

- Excellent writing skills
- Good connections with the national media
- Experience in writing press releases
- Excellent sub-editing and proofing skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail

- A passion to change football for the better
- Experience in broadcast interviews and media training is desirable
