Job Title: Secretary

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

Hours: 37.5 hours a week

Trust Location: Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust

About the Trust

The Northern Care Alliance is an NHS Foundation Trust (NCA FT) created by bringing together two NHS Trusts, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The NCA FT was formally established on 1 October 2021. The NCA has been working together as a group since 2016.

What you’ll be responsible for:

· Alerting the appropriate clinician promptly to referrals arriving in the department. Where possible, identifying issues that require the urgent attention of the clinician.

· Deal appropriately with telephone calls into the Department

· Answer telephone on behalf of Clinician and handle enquiries.

· Prioritizing and actioning of incoming and outgoing mail, including e-mail, faxes, internal and external correspondence with the timely distribution of mail to the relevant place.

· Managing telephone calls, many of which will be of a sensitive nature from patients, relatives, members of the public, GP’s, healthcare professionals, and hospital departments all of which require a high level of patient confidentiality.

You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS.

2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times.

3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation.

You’ll have the following skills/experience:

· Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written

· Microsoft office skills- Outlook, Word, and Excel

· Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

· Previous NHS experience

· Previous secretarial experience

· Previous minute taking experience

This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years secretarial experience.
