Job description

Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Sheltered Housing Officer for our client a large local government based in Worthing.

The successful candidate will offer on site representation at the Sheltered Housing schemes. Ensuring the safety of residents by application of the organisation’s Health and Safety policies and fire safety procedures.

Supporting residents wellbeing by managing tenancies in accordance with our tenancy agreement. Offering on site support in the provision of guest room bookings and turnarounds and communal lounge bookings.

Undertake sheltered housing tenancy management including viewings sign ups rent arrears, anti- social behaviour management and tenancy compliancy.

This is a 3 month starting contract with the possibility for extensions.

Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:

Make daily contact with every tenant in designated scheme(s), either personal the community alarm intercom system and ensure that every person has at least weekly visit, or as agreed with the tenant on their support plan or disclaimer.

Respond to all emergency calls while on duty and contact the appropriate authority or relatives, as necessary.

Welcome new tenants into the scheme within 24 hours of moving in and ensure the tenant is familiar with the emergency alarm system, the layout of the scheme activities available. A needs and risk assessment is carried out.

Accurately complete and maintain up-to-date tenant records and support plans immediately inform the Community Alarm and Telecare service (CATS) of any information changes.

Provide support to all new sheltered Introductory Tenancies for the first 12 months and carry out regular and scheduled home visits and intervene to ensure that the tenancy is running effectively and any issues identified from the time of sign-up to escalation to a secure tenancy are addressed.

Enable and encourage social activities at the scheme, advising tenants of even at the scheme and locally, and to assist the Senior Sheltered Housing Support Of (SSHSO) in any initiatives as required.

Actively promote and encourage independence, while mindful of safeguarding and respecting the right to privacy, confidentiality, dignity, choice and fulfilment.

Liaise with other service providers and to be aware of national and local policies legislation relating to older people.

Ensure that the guest room (where applicable) is in good order and available for tenants’ relatives.

Provide short-term support in a crisis, or to prevent admission to, or facilitate discharge from, hospital, to older people living in the area in private accommodation these clients may be referred by social care, health professionals or family and f A needs and risk assessment will be carried out and a support plan drawn up.

Ensure that pre-assessments are carried out for all new tenants, to include risk assessments, and that all tenants have a bi-annual support plan or a disclaim.

Respond appropriately and effectively to communications from AH residents accommodation range of platforms that customers choose to engage.

Be familiar with and attend training related to safeguarding issues and vulnerable adults to maintain an awareness of safeguarding concerns and also health issues as mental health and drug and alcohol dependency.

Personal Requirements:

DBS Certificate.

UK Driving license.

Previous experience in a similar role.

Working Hours: 09:00am – 17:00pm, Monday – Friday / Hybrid position 3 days-a-week in the office

Pay: £27.39 p/h 

Please note this role is within the scope of IR35.
