Clinical Nurse Specialist Mental Health - Christchurch Men's Prison and Matawhaiti Residence

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, your role as Clinical Nurse Specialist is to provide a comprehensive range of specialist and individualised mental health nursing services to the tāne in our care and management. Effective clinical caseload management will include triage, assessment and evidence informed treatments that are aligned to, and integrated with primary health and tertiary mental health provision, as well as overall promoting the delivery of holistic and recovery-oriented health services across the wider prison environment.

We're eager to hear from appropriately qualified candidates who demonstrate a strong alignment with our values and mission. In your written application, we are looking for evidence of the following essential qualifications: being a Registered Nurse Mental Health with a current Nursing Council of NZ Annual Practising Certificate; possessing a high level of cultural competence, which includes understanding the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and having practical experience working with and for Māori communities, families, and tribes; holding specialised mental health nursing experience across primary/community, secondary, or tertiary settings; showcasing relevant experience in addressing acute and complex mental health and/or addiction issues; displaying a solid grasp of the professional, ethical, and legislative requirements involved in providing mental health care within a prison context; and ideally, holding a post-graduate qualification in mental health or making progress toward obtaining one.

The full salary range is $110,704 - $117,907. (This range will increase to $114, 025 -$121,444 as of July 2024.)Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
