EC&I Technician
Salary – £37,425 to £48,425 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours – 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day (Monday to Sunday shift rota)
Postcode of depot – EH22 1SX
Acting under the direction of the maintenance manager, the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (E, C & I) Technician is responsible for the provision of, in a professional and timely manner, the day-to-day scheduled maintenance, fault finding, breakdown and inspection activities for the electrical and control equipment and systems on-site. The EC&I Technician will maximise the plant's performance and availability, whilst maintaining high standards of Safety and Environmental performance.

What will you be doing?
- Performing troubleshooting, routine, scheduled and major repair and preventative maintenance on all site electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, IT and DCS systems and the associated equipment including monitoring for changes in operating conditions
- Assisting with the co-ordination and planning of maintenance activities to ensure maximum plant availability, reliability, flexibility and performance without compromising quality, safety and environmental priorities
- Assisting in the development and implementation of the site's Computerised Maintenance Management System as well as ensuring that all activities, spares and information (including historical data) are correctly recorded to optimise the life, downtime, reliability and performance of the plant
- Assisting with identifying, developing and the delivery of maintenance techniques and procedures directed at increasing overall plant availability and performance
- Testing and calibrating of E.C&I systems as well as field equipment in accordance with OEM's requirements and prudent Industry Best Practice
- Managing all work associated with departmental activities on site, including supervision and control of contractor works as required
- Provision of close technical support to Operations and other site teams
- Actively participating in Company and site initiatives and projects, as required
- Supporting outage planning, scheduling, co-ordination and management
- Undertaking, where required, the scheduled inspection and testing of equipment required by the company's procedures, HSE legislation and the site's Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) Permit requirements
- Assisting with the development of budgets and working within budgetary constraints
- Assisting with the Development, Supervision and management of maintenance contracts, projects and sub-contractors for general maintenance and planned outages
- Supporting other UK businesses if the need arise
- Standing in for the Maintenance Manager/Team Leader as required in their absence

- Knowledge and experience of Safe Systems of work, Safety Rules and Permit for Work Systems
- Knowledge and understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Experience of working on and the maintenance of an Energy from Waste plant
- Experience of the operation and/or maintenance of steam-powered electricity generation equipment
- Experience of installing and commissioning new and replacement equipment
- Experience of Emerson Ovation and testing electrical circuits
- Knowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (GEMS)
- Knowledge of 415 V electrical systems
- Knowledge of Pneumatics, Hydraulics, PLC and DCS control Logic
- Knowledge and understanding of electrical distribution systems, their protection and switching
- Fault-finding skills
- Knowledge of Computer Maintenance Management systems applications
- Knowledge of electrical generation and distribution up to 33kV
- Knowledge and understanding of HV distribution systems, their protection, and switching up to 33KV
- Knowledge of plant control and instrumentation
- An understanding of ATEX and Hazardous Areas requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of preventative maintenance and defect repair/interrogation on DCS, PLCs, analogue and digital instrumentation
- Full understanding of P&IDs, loop checking and reading electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and isometric drawings
- Working knowledge of analogue and digital instrumentation calibration regimes
- Knowledge of Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
- Knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2008)
- Proficiency in IT
- City and Guilds/SVQ level 3 in an Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering discipline, or equivalent qualifications and/or experience
- To hold a NEBOSH or IOSH qualification
