Applications are welcome for either an April or September start for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Religious Studies who can deliver an enriching curriculum, within the RE department. You will be joining a successful RE Department that gains strong examination results throughout the key stages and has recently been graded J1 in a SIAMs inspection. We are looking for someone who believes in building strong relationships with our students and who is willing to go above and beyond to support them in being successful and helping them to realise their God-given potential. As a team, we believe strongly that RE is a subject vital in developing our students’ ability to empathise with others and to think critically about the world around them. We have designed a curriculum that offers a diverse range of beliefs and faiths in order to enrich students’ experience and equip them with the tools they need both for success at GCSE and A Level, and for future career pathways. Our department works collaboratively on SOWs and refines them each term so that we are delivering the best resources and lessons to meet the needs of all our students. Our recent work has been on building adaptive resources to meet all learners needs, as well as working on metacognitive strategies to foster student independence. As a department we have also been developing our lessons to support students to academically engage with Biblical texts. You would be expected to develop, plan and deliver highly effective learning experiences to all students across every key stage and lead a transformational extracurricular offer.

St Mark's were inspected by Ofsted in March 2023. The Academy performed exceptionally well in all areas, with particular reference made to expert curriculum design; transformational teaching and learning underpinned by the highest expectations; the extra-curricular offer and staff and pupil wellbeing. The report states, “ there is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if we were to carry out a graded (section 5) inspection now.”
