Permanent

Grade 5 - £40,221 - £48,474 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of Birmingham’s Finance - Transactional Services section, Cashiers’ team, which processes income and payments for the largest unitary authority in Europe.

The purpose of the role is to manage the Cashbooks Team responsible for delivering a quality income management and payment processing service within a Transactional services environment and to provide support to the Head of Transaction Services, Accounts Receivable Manager, and other manager members within their functional area.

You will be experienced in the following (but not exclusively):

• Managing a team of staff to ensure income & payments are processed and reconciled in accord with targets, legislation and/or financial regulations and procedures relating to income management and payment processing within a local authority environment or other large organisation.

• Experience in signing off bank reconciliations on a frequent basis, dealing with year- end activities such as bank reconciliations, audits around cash and payments and reviewing GL reconciliations (key accounts).

• Experience around reviewing existing system processes and working with technical teams to enhance or modify the system to better fit Cash Management.

• Using Accounts Receivable (income management & payment processing) software as well as other software applications to produce reports, prepare other business documents and ensure the effective maintenance of accurate records.

You will be expected to have ability to:

• Communicate effectively using a variety of media including telephone, letter, email, Microsoft Teams etc and effective inter-personal skills to build and maintain relationships.

• Work in a pressurised environment in changing circumstances.

You will also show:

• Willingness to undergo appropriate training and development.
