Schoen Clinic Newbridge House is an award winning and specialist Eating Disorder unit, providing in and out-patient services to young people aged 8-18yrs. With an enviable reputation for excellent service provision, our unit was rated Outstanding by the CQC in 2016 and 2018 and we were Hospital Group of The Year and Nursing Practice winners in both 2019 and 2020. As the demand for the clinics services increases, we are now recruiting for a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist to join our warm and professional team at Schoen Clinic Newbridge House. You will be working as part of a highly talented and close multi-disciplinary team of professionals and the support that you will provide will enable young people to help themselves in their recovery from their eating disorder. The role for the part-time Consultant Psychiatrist is based on a 1-3 day basis for our eating disorders unit for children and young people in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established service with a national reputation with 34 beds. You will be working with an experienced multidisciplinary team and supported by an Associate Specialist and will be responsible for the psychiatric and medical management of patients, including patients detained under the Mental Health Act. The majority of our patients are funded by the NHS. Schoen Clinic Newbridge is part of the Mental Health Division of Schoen Clinic UK, which also has units in York and London, and there will be opportunities for professional development and peer support within the group. Schoen Clinic is committed to innovation and evidence-based practice and has an active research programme. Skills You will have specialist registration with the General Medical Council and a license to practice as well as the following. MRCPsych or equivalent Approved Clinician status or willingness to achieve this A minimum of one years experience of eating disorders as a higher trainee or equivalent Experience in the psychological and pharmacological management of eating disorders and co-morbid conditions Knowledge of the physical complications of eating disorders and their management Experience of the management of refeeding in severely underweight patients Experience of a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches used in the treatment of eating disorders Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills and willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team What we offer 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays Professional development opportunities Contributory pension scheme Enhanced Private Medical Insurance with BUPA including access to a private GP service, free screening & the inclusion of pre-existing conditions.
