Deputy Nurse Manager - Band 6

Full Time - Permanent role

We currently have a full-time vacancy for a Deputy Nurse Manager.

Ashby House and The Lodge is a health respite and day service on the outskirts of Nuneaton, which offers direct 24/7 nursing care overnight for short breaks to adults with a range of needs. These needs include mild to severe learning disabilities with associated complex health needs, sensory impairment, autism and complex behaviours. We also ensure that the adults have a varied and meaningful timetable of activities.

Clinically leading a team of nurses and Health Care Assistants to provide high quality respite and day care to adults with learning disabilities.

This involves working alongside the team on shifts and leading at grass roots level

Managing the operations of the service and deputising in the absence of the manager

The service is open 24 hours throughout the year and therefore will require the candidate
• to work flexibly
• and be willing to work with in a nursing rota including wake nights, early and late shifts, in the week and at weekends. (Enhancements for unsocial hours nights, Bank holidays and weekends)

• Are you a Registered nurse who is enthusiastic about working with people who have a Learning Disability and their associated health needs?
• Do you have excellent communication skills?
• Do you have enthusiasm and commitment towards continual quality improvement?
• Are you a car driver with access to a vehicle?
• Have you previously worked with adults who have learning disabilities?
• Are you willing and competent in delivering clinical procedures in line with service users care plans?
• Are you confident in managing a large staff team, both nursing staff and Health Care assistants?
• Are you confident in leading shifts and communicating effectively with the team?

We work in a multi-disciplined approach, and we involve our community of service users, parents/carers and other professionals and agencies in the running and development of the service.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
• Nursing qualification in Learning disabilities, Mental Health or Adult Nursing
• Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
• Must have or be willing to work towards a recognised management qualification

Experience

Essential
• A range of experience of working with people with learning disabilities and / or mental health difficulties
• Car driver with access to a vehicle
