Governors & Trustees - Learning Community Trust

We Manage Jobs(WMJobs)

Location

Shrewsbury, Shropshire | United Kingdom

Job description

Make a difference to learning, to families and the community

As a strong and growing multi-academy trust based in Telford, and with a specialist academy in Shrewsbury, we are adding to the governance of our academies and Board of trustees and are looking for additional:

Trustees to help shape how we provide learning locally, guide our strategy and provide both challenge and support to our teams; and

Governors for the academies and schools we support, helping ensure our learners, staff and the community get the best from our schools and what our trust can offer.

We are significant education providers in Telford and Wrekin and Shropshire. With 11 schools already in our trust and more joining us shortly, our early years, primary, secondary and specialist schools and academies already support over 5,000 learners and we employ more than 1000 staff.

We believe in great governance. An external review of governance across our trust found it to be exemplary, and we were shortlisted this year as one of six trusts nationally demonstrating ‘Outstanding Governance’. We now have roles available for:

TRUSTEES

Following the retirement of one and a change of role for another of our trustees, we now have vacancies for two trustees. Being a trustee is hugely rewarding - it is a voluntary role with responsibility for ensuring the strategic direction of the trust is well considered and planned, and the delivery of our aims and objectives are met. Each of our trustees takes an active role in shaping our strategy and decision-making in a particular area of our trust’s work. We have and look for trustees that bring innovative thinking, different perspectives, local and broader knowledge, and a commitment to do the very best for our communities, learners, families, and staff.

GOVERNORS

Being a governor is also hugely rewarding and a voluntary role. Attached to one of our academies, you will be close to how they work, helping ensure our learners, staff and the community to develop to be the best they can. You will help shape the experiences in our academies, provide support and challenge, and actively contribute to their success. Each year we have vacancies for governors across our academies as they reach the end of their term of office and we are looking for new governors to fill those vacancies across our early years, primary, secondary and specialist settings.

We are looking for people who will actively contribute to the success of our trust and academies, who will bring a range of knowledge, skills, and experiences and have a passion for making a difference. Our trustees and governors need to understand the wider and local context for our academies and trust; therefore, we are particularly interested in diversifying our governance to ensure we more closely represent our communities.
The trustee and governor roles are voluntary and invaluable to our community. We have a policy in place so that if trustees/governors wish to, they can claim for any expenditure necessarily incurred to enable them to carry out their duties.

In terms of knowledge, skills and understanding, we welcome applications from people with a wide range of experience including (but not only):

• audit and financial management
• community and stakeholder engagement
• corporate governance
• human resources
• information and digital technology
• legal/compliance
• pedagogy and curriculum
• strategic educational leadership

If you feel you can be part of our growing and successful trust, making a real difference to our students, pupils, and our local community and continuing our tradition of great governance, please contact our Governance Professional (01952 387505 / [email protected]) for more information and an informal chat. #J-18808-Ljbffr
